LifeLines has recently been launched in Bijnor in U.P. as part of Sahayak, a value added offering from the Tata Indicom service.

Tata Indicom, India’s leading telecom services provider has launched LifeLines as part of their “Sahayak” service, designed to assist and enable increase in farm productivity for farmers.

The service is presently being piloted in the Bijnor district of west Uttar Pradesh, where users will be able to access the service through two numbers - 534351 and 534352 - on their Tata Indicom mobile phones.

LifeLines will cater to the personalized agri-advisory segment in the Sahayak service and will be available directly on 534352 and as the 4th IVRS option on 534351. In the personalized segment, LifeLines will serve an assortment of knowledge needs of farmers, including pre- and post-cultivation farming advisory, and guidance on animal husbandry, fishery, apiculture and related practices.

Sahayak in essence brings together 4 services as a bouquet to cater to different information requirements of farmers. These include updates on mandi (market) prices, weather forecast and futures prices, in addition to the LifeLines service.

In its entirety the Sahayak offering is positioned to assist farmers through every step of their farming cycle - from crop production to market sales. The service is based on a subscription model and available for access at any time during the day and for any number of times by the user.
